Virginia Department of Education, Virginia Coalition for Fine Arts Education and Virginia Music Educators Association Announces:
The Art of Vocal Music Institute
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), in partnership with the Virginia Coalition for Fine Arts Education and the Virginia Music Educators Association, is pleased to offer the 2017 The Art of Vocal Music Institute on July 11-14, 2017, at Virginia Commonwealth University. This four-day Institute is provided at no cost to selected public sector educators and includes campus residence housing, meals, materials and supplies, instruction, registration, and parking in accordance with state travel regulations.

NAfME All - National Honor Ensembles
Announcing a new opportunity for students from our National Organization.  It’s the 2017 All-National Honor Ensembles to be held at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida. The NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles (ANHE) represent the top performing high school musicians in the United States. This opportunity is open to students in grades 9,10 or 11 during the 2016-2017 school year and must have been accepted in the Virginia 2016-17 All-State music festival.  Additional application guidelines can be viewed at:" style="color: rgb(149, 79, 114);" target="_blank">NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles.
Plans are well underway to make the 2017 All-National Honors Ensembles a life-changing musical experience that your students will never forget!! This year’s event will take place on November 26 - 29, 2017 at the Coronado Springs Resort in Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL!!  Conductors this year include:
T. Andrew Feagin – Band
Margery Deutsch – Orchestra
Z. Randall Stroope – Choir
Todd Stoll & Jazz at Lincoln Center – Jazz

Students are required to upload an unedited and unaccompanied video performing the required repertoire for their instrument or voice part. Please find repertoire requirements on the website listed above. There is the option of uploading an additional 2 minute video. This may be a piece of their choosing and may be accompanied or unaccompanied.

Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide mutual helpfulness to its membership and to promote the advancement of music education through schools and other educational institutions. VMEA is an affiliated state unit of NAfME -- The National Association for Music Education.
